A few months ago, New Orleans came forward with a new team mascot, opening the door for Michael Jordan to make a similar move with the Bobcats.
Since jettisoning “Hornets” for “Pelicans,” New Orleans made a few changes on the roster front as well. With newly acquired All-Star Jrue Holiday and 2012 No. 1 pick Anthony Davis in tow, there is reason for fans in the bayou region to carry a little excitement going into the 2013-14 NBA season.
On Thursday, Jason Smith, Ryan Anderson, Holiday and Davis looked to stretch that fervor and unveiled the franchise’s new uniforms to the world.
Based on the reaction of the Twitter-sphere, the new work gear of Davis and Co. stands firmly in fashion purgatory. It doesn’t engender aversion, but it doesn’t yell “come see us play” either. As pointed out by Bleacher Report’s Benjamin Cruz, the unis lamentably bear a certain likeness to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Either way, this is another step in a new direction for a rising franchise. What sayeth you?
